Fifth Grade Favorites – 2019

As promised – here are the fifth grade favorites for this year.

Library Lady's Kid Lit

Each year I allow the fifth grade students to tell me what their favorite picture book in our library is. I use those titles for read-alouds the last couple library times. Here is this  years list. They are listed in order of number of students who choose the title.

SneetchesSeuss, Dr. The Sneetches. New York: Random House, 1961. Classic Dr. Seuss title.

FlotsamWeisner, David. Flotsam. New York: Clarion Books, 2006. A wordless book about a camera that is retrieved from the ocean. The main character gets the pictures developed and it is interesting what the camera has seen. The book was a Caldecott Medal winner.

LoraxSeuss, Dr. The Lorax. New York: Random House Books for Young Readers, 1971. Classic Dr. Seuss title.

BlueSeeger, Laura Vaccaro. Blue. New York: Roaring Brook Press, 2018. A mostly wordless book focusing on the color blue. It was one of the books in our Mock…
